Rice in the world

   I told you Japanese agriculture last time. What is the main farm product in Japan?―Yes, it's rice. The rice is staple food in Japan, too. Do you remember?

  To tell the truth, there are three types of rice all over the world. Indica rice, Japonica rice, and Javanica rice. Indica rice is mainly harvested rice in the world. Indica rice is long-shaped, is dry. Even if the rice has gone cold, it isn't tend to haden. Indica rice is mainly harvested in Thailand, India, Southeast, and so on. Indica rice is very suitable for curry, pilaf, and fried rice.

  Japonica rice is mainly harvested in Japan, the north part of China, the Korean Peninsula, California, and so on. "Koshihikari", "Akitakomachi" are very famous.

  The grain of Javanica rice is big, is chewy a little. Javanica rice is mainly harvested in Indonesia.

  The rice ball and the grilled rice ball are very famous in Japan. The rice ball is often with a savory filling and wrapped in seaweed, is called "Onigiri" in Japan.

  The grilled rice ball is Japanese rice ball with a crispy, savory exterior. It's basted with soy sauce and grilled until crispy. It has a cruncy, savory outer layer and a soft interior, is called "Yaki Onigiri" in Japan.
