The International Date Line

  I went to U.S.A with my friends and teachers when I was young.

  The airplane departed Narita airport at five o'clock in the evening. The sky got darker and darker. Long time passed. I felt like sleeping.

  Suddenly the scene of the sky changed. Suddenly the darkness ended. I saw the scene in the late afternoon. I was surprised. I got awake. What's the matter? I couldn't understand the scene at that time. I thought about it for a long time. After long time passed, I realized that one day went back. My eyes captured the scene the date changed.

  The International Date Line is the imaginary line that fix the boundary of the date. When we cross from west to east, we go back one day. When we cross from east to west, we advance the date by one day.

  I learned about the International Date Line at the school, but saw it at the first time.

  I'll never forget the experience of seeing the International Date Line.
